Biography
Sandhya is from the beautiful Himalayan country of Nepal, where she completed her BSc in Biochemistry. After that, Sandhya pursued a master’s degree in Biochemistry at Jiwaji University in India. Before starting her PhD studies in the Aguilo Lab (Umeå University, Sweden), Sandhya worked as a research assistant in the Department of Medical Biosciences, Umeå University, focusing on the role of lipoprotein lipase and KIF23 alternative splicing across different model systems. During her doctoral research, Sandhya delved into gene expression programs that regulate the self-renewal and differentiation of embryonic stem cells.
Outside of research, Sandhya enjoys spending time with her daughter, weightlifting, running, and listening to music.
