Sweden

At Lund University the Pereira Lab is located at the Biomedical Center next to the beautiful botanical gardens, just a few minutes away of the picturesque center of Lund. Our floor, BMC A12, is also home to many of the research groups of the Lund Stem Cell Center, including the Larsson Lab and the Leigh Lab. The eight groups at the floor share a dynamic open laboratory space with a large lunchroom, kitchen, and conference room. At the Pereira Lab we have our own High-Content microscope, cell culture facility, and access to the advanced core facilities at the Lund Stem Cell Center: cell sorting, single cell analysis, and bioinformatics. Trainees on the floor often share lunches at the floor or cafeteria. Organically developed collaborations between groups are most of the time trainee driven. Our Lab is just a few meters away from Skåne University Hospital, which supports our clinical translational efforts. In Sweden we are affiliated with the Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine, the Lund Stem Cell Center, and the Lund University Cancer Center.

Portugal

At Coimbra University the Pereira Lab is located at UC-Biotech, a state-of-the-art building part of the Biocant biotechnology park. Coimbra University is one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1290. Biocant is devoted to developing and creating value in biotechnology and hosts most of biotech companies in Portugal. The park is in Cantanhede, which is 30 minutes away from Coimbra. At UC-Biotech, the Pereira Lab has access to a fully equipped laboratory and excellent infrastructures such as a cell culture facility, a microscopy unit, a flow cytometry unit, and an animal house. Trainees usually use carpools to Coimbra where most of the people live and enjoy proximity to the beaches and the Atlantic Ocean. Regional food and wine are also highly appreciated. The Pereira Lab at UC-Biotech joins the best of academia and basic research with technology transfer and innovation efforts. In Portugal we are affiliated with the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology and the Center for Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology.
