Biography

Alex Mateo completed his Bachelor’s in Human Biology at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and he is now in the second year of the Biomedicine Master’s program in Lund. He has previous lab experience through internships in different fields, such as immunotherapy, cell secretion and microbiology. His interests now are focused on cell reprogramming and regeneration. He wants to understand cell fate and how to change cell identity with direct cellular reprogramming.

Out of the lab, Alex loves to travel, discover unique places and meet new people. He is also a high-altitude mountain instructor and likes all kinds of sports. During his free time, you could find him doing water polo, football, judo or even performing human towers.
