Tommaso Ballocci

MSc Student

Characterizing In Vivo Reprogramming of Cancer Cells into Dendritic Cells

Biography

Tommaso has completed his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Padova in Italy, where he grew an interest in immunology. Currently a second-year master’s student in Molecular Biology in Lund, he has developed a passion for the intersection of immunology with cancer biology and stem cells. During his master’s thesis, he aims to characterize in vivo reprogramming of cancer cells into dendritic cells and their interactions with immune cells in the tumor microenvironment.

Outside of the lab, Tommaso loves to share time with his friends cooking, having fika, or engaging in crochet sessions. Interculturality is very important to him, as a way to better understand the world and be enriched by others’ experiences. That’s why Lund, and the Pereira lab itself, seemed very appealing to him. Hit him up whenever you feel like having a volleyball match!
